Prerequisites: To use recurrence, you may need some of the features listed in this guide to be enabled. If you do, talk to support@learningpool.com or your account manager about getting them switched on. Only org admins and team managers can edit a learner's valid until date.
A learning experience can automatically reset a learner's enrolment when their completion expires. This is useful if, for example, you have annual training that you need your learners to retake each year.
Important: Before importing historical data for your learning experiences, please ensure that the attempt options settings are correctly configured for each learning experience. This step is crucial to guarantee that learners are assigned the appropriate completion and recompletion dates. Failure to verify these settings prior to the import process may result in inaccurate dates being recorded for your learners.
How to do it
Go to the Settings of your learning experience.
Open Attempts Options.
|
Expiry Method = Use Fixed Date: The learning experience expires on a date of your choosing, no matter who the learner is or when they enrolled.
Expires on: Pick a date, any date. |
|
|
Expiry method = Use Attempt Completion Date: The learning experience expires on a date relative to the learner's last completion. E.g. 1 year after they completed the learning experience. Validity Period: Use months or years to specify how long the learner's completion remains valid. |
|
| Reset enrolments: Tick this to make sure completions expire when the expiry date passes. | |
|
Recompletion Availability: Set the number of days that the learner will have to recomplete the learning experience once the enrollment is reset upon the expiration of the validity period. Note, this is calculated and applied upon completion of the learning experience. Meaning if this value is changed for the learning experience, it will not retroactively be applied to prior completions. The new value will only apply to completions that take place after the update to this value. |
Recompletion Availability appears only when Reset enrollments is activated. |
When an attempt has reached its expiry date, it is still valid until the end of the day UTC. For example, if the expiry date is 16/01/2022 then the attempt will expire at 12:00 am 17/01/2022.

Adjusting the expiry date for your team
Managers can change the expiry dates for their team members. Here's how:
Go to My Team.
Go to COMPLETION REPORT.
Locate the learner and the learning experience that you would like to adjust the expiry date. Click the icon. Use the date picker to set the new expiry date.
Adjusting the expiry date as an admin
Org admins can adjust the expiry date for any learner on any learning experience. To do this:
Go to the relevant learning experience and select Reports then Completions.
Locate the learner whose expiry date you want to edit and click the icon. Now you can specify a new expiry date.
Manually forcing expiry
If the reset enrolments checkbox is checked but there is no expiry date, a manager or admin can set an expiry date for a learner to be in the past and on doing so it will reset the learner's enrolment. For example: a delivery driver has completed their one-time training, however, they have an accident and are required to retake their learning. In this situation, a manager or admin can set an expiry date in the past and this will reset their enrolment.
Resetting progress in elearning content
Alert: Only Adapt content published after July 2020 will reset.
In Storyline you need to download content as a Scorm package to ensure content will reset on enrolment reset.
Articulate Rise works without any further configuration.
xAPI statements
When the learners enrolment is reset due to the recompletion available date being reached, the Joined xAPI statement will include an extension:
recompletion_available: trueThis could be used to trigger a workflow in . If you create a workflow which begins with a custom xAPI trigger you can build a query which specifies that this extension is set to true:
