For the convenience of learners, Site Managers can add links that could link directly to Courses, Programs, Certifications or other links (external & internal) to the LMS. You can add links to almost any block in the LMS however the below blocks are typical:
- Buttons Block
- Slider block
- HTML
- LP KPI Dashlets
- Content Collection Block
How to add a Dashboard link to blocks
Within the dashboard of choice, turning your Blocks editing on will allow the editing of the dashboard.
Once blocks editing is enabled, selecting Configure <block name> will allow the editing of the block.
After clicking the configure option, selecting the slide in this instance will activate that slide and indicate any changes made will be for that slide only. Important to ensure the correct selection before applying settings. After this, clicking on the link will allow a URL to be added
Adding a link to a dashboard
When adding a link to a dashboard may be copied as below

When adding dashboard links to a block in the LMS, a Dashboard link can be copied in two ways:
- https://yoursite.learningpool.com/totara/dashboard/index.php?id=9
- https://yoursite.learningpool.com/totara/dashboard/layout.php?id=9
When a Site Manager wishes for their learners to land on the dashboard, the URL for the dashboard must be inserted as index.php? rather than layout.php?. Adding the link for layout.php will send the learner to the dashboard with editing permissions which is something they will not have, therefore they will see the below:
If this occurs then the link containing the URL will need to be updated. In most instances, it will just require .layout.php to be changed to .index.php. So:
