Why This Feature Is Important
This feature allows administrators to add skills to Learning Experiences that may not have a good description for automatic skill scraping. The manually added skills are then used when learners filter Learning Experiences by skills on the 'Discover' page.
Importantly, when Learning Experiences are tagged with skills (either manually or automatically), learners can use the skills filter on the Discover page to find content that matches their specific skill development needs. This direct connection between tagging and discoverability enhances the learner's ability to find relevant content and supports more targeted, skill-based learning journeys. Check out this page for an overview of skill filtering on the 'Discover' page.

FAQs
Q: Can I add any skill to a Learning Experience?
A: You can add any skill available in the Skills Builder database to a Learning Experience.
Q: Is there a limit to how many skills I can add to a Learning Experience?
A: While there's no strict limit, it's best to keep the number of skills focused and relevant to the Learning Experience content.
Q: Will manually added skills override automatically associated skills?
A: No, manually added skills complement the automatically associated skills. Both types will be visible and used for filtering.
Q: Can I bulk add or remove skills?
A: Currently, skills must be added or removed one at a time. Bulk operations are not available.
Q: Who can see the skills I've added to a Learning Experience?
A: The skills are visible to all users who can access the Learning Experience, and they're used for filtering on the 'Discover' page.
Q: Can I edit a skill once it's been added?
A: You cannot edit a skill directly. If you need to change a skill, you'll need to remove the existing one and add the correct skill.
Q: How do manually added skills interact with the automatic skill association feature?
A: Both manual and automatically associated skills coexist. The automatic feature won't remove manually added skills.
Q: Can I see who added each skill?
A: Yes, the 'Added By' column in the skills table shows whether a skill was added manually by an admin or automatically by the system.
Q: Will removing a skill affect learners who have already started the Learning Experience?
A: Removing a skill doesn't affect the content of the Learning Experience. It only changes how the Learning Experience appears in skill-based filters.
Q: Can I add skills in different languages?
A: Yes, you can add skills in different languages if they're available in your Skills Builder database.

Best Practices
- Be consistent in skill application across similar Learning Experiences
- Regularly review and update skills to ensure they remain relevant
- Use a combination of broad and specific skills to improve discoverability
- Consider your learners' perspective when adding skills - what terms might they use to search for this content?
- Collaborate with content creators to identify the most appropriate skills for each Learning Experience
- Remember that the skills you tag directly impact how learners can find content on the 'Discover' page. Choose skills that accurately represent the content and that learners are likely to search for
