How Licensing Works
We track the number of learners that have used the licence (in any way) not against the content. For example if there are 100 users on the licence and 5 pieces of content associated with the licence, and I as a learner use 4 of them, I am one user. There are 99 licences left. See use cases below for how licences can be applied.
Use case 1
I want to share the same content with five different organisations and limit each organisation to access the content for one year each and 100 people each.
I want to be able to stop access to the content if an organisation does not pay for it.
- Go to the Content > Accounts page and create an account for the first organisation.
- Create a licence for that organisation with the required limits.
- Repeat the same steps for the other four organisations.
- Go to the Content > Manage page and select the ellipses in the Action column for the content you want to share.
- Select Add to Licence and select the licence and accounts you want to add to the content.
- Select the ellipses again in the Action column and select Download.
- Select the licence, and organisation, you want to assign to the content and download the launch file.
- Share the launch files with the organisations to upload to their platform.
- To turn off access edit the licence for the organisation to yesterday's date or set the account to inactive.
Use case 2
I want to share five pieces of content with the same organisation and limit it to 500 users for one year.
- Go to the Content > Accounts page and create an account for the organisation.
- Create a licence for that organisation with the required limits.
- Go to the Content > Manage page and select the ellipses in the Action column for the first piece of content you want to share.
- Select Add to Licence and select the licence and account you want to add to the content.
- Repeat the steps for the other four pieces of content.
- Select the ellipses again in the Action column and select Download.
- Select the licence, and organisation, you want to assign to the content and download the launch file.
- Share the launch files with the organisation to upload to their platform.
