Prerequisites: You must have a Twilio account and the Twilio integration enabled on Automation. For details on setting this up, scroll to the bottom of this guide.
To: Enter a valid phone number including international code, for example +44 for the UK.
Body: Enter text for the body of the message, this can include variables. It counts the number of characters used, as the max for a single SMS message is 160. Going over 160 will cause the message to be split into multiple messages, up to a max of 10 (1600 characters).
Note: The character counter only counts the characters in the box and if using variables the placeholder text may be replaces with longer text. For example ‘{LearnerEmail}’ may become 'firstname.lastname@learningpool.com' which may take up more room and push the message over the 160 character boundaries.
Setting up Twilio
To set up Twilio integration you will need a Twilio account. Click here to make a free account. Ensure you set up two-factor authentication. With a trial account you should get £10 credit which is enough for around 300+ messages to UK phones.
Once you have an account, Learning Pool can connect it to your account. Contact your account manager to sort this out. When you contact us, we're going to need your Twilio account info. Here's you find it:
