User contributions are a type of object that is only available in undertake an online course learning experience.
In a user contribution object, learners can record and upload videos, documents, links and free text. They can also view and comment on each other's contributions, depending on privacy settings.
You could use User Contribution objects to ask users to record an introduction video, upload an essay on
the material discussed in the course, or provide links to relevant material. Users can choose to make their
contributions private, allowing only group tutors to view them. You can make this the default by editing
the object and ticking the Hide contributions by default checkbox shown under Game Settings (1).
How to add a user contribution object
In your learning experience, go to Manage content, click NEW OBJECT, and select User Contribution.
User contribution objects are largely set up in the same way as any other learning object in an undertake an online course learning experience. There are, however, two new settings to add. The first is Instruction. The instruction appears on a user contribution object and is used to let your learners know what you would like them to upload.
The second setting unique to the User Contribution object is within the Game Settings area. Hide contributions by default will hide all uploads to this object from traditional users, making them only accessible/visible to Tutors/Admins.
For security reasons, only the following file types can be uploaded: mp4, m4v, flv, pdf, ppt, pptx, pps,ppsx, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, txt, mp3, mpga, m4a, wav, jpg, jpeg, png, gif, ssc.
