Categories are the highest-level grouping of content. They act as ‘chapters’ in the book that is your course. Categories can contain topics, activities, and slides. To learn more about how categories fit into the structure of content in Adaptive Content Authoring, click here.
When learners complete the introduction of your course, they'll be taken to the category selection screen:
Creating a category
To create a category, click +Add Page and select Category. Then add your title and click Add Page:

Alert: Do not create a category named "category". This will not allow you to create additional categories if you do so.
When you create a category you'll have to add some course material in a text box:
This will be presented to the user when they reach the start of the category:
Alternative course materials
If you want different users to see different course materials, you can add alternate course materials by clicking + Add Alternate Course Materials at the bottom of the page:
Once you've added your new intro and body text, go to the CONFIGURATIONS tab and scroll down to the new section that's appeared:

Theming your category
You can add an image and background to your category by going to the CONFIGURATIONS tab:
The Category Image is displayed on the category screen and the Category Background overwrites the course background throughout the category:
Configuring the category selection screen
To configure the category selection screen, go to Course Settings, select the INTERFACE tab, and click Category Selection:
Here you can enable/disable the category select screen using the toggle:
Then you can select a layout below:
