Learning Pool’s Learning Experience Platform (LXP) - is a contemporary, mobile-responsive learning platform designed to assist in delivering upskilling, social, and hybrid learning to its users.
The platform is a SaaS product, so hosting, maintenance and upgrades are all included in the subscription.
The LXP is where users will access and consume course content and it acts as the central hub from which most of the administration and learning design will happen. It is designed to offer an engaging, modern user interface, available on all devices that enables learners to find and launch the learning content they need.
Content
Learning Experience
Learning Experiences are activities undertaken by learners to improve their knowledge, such as reading an article or completing an e-learning course. Instead of only courses, our LXP provides flexibility to administrators in the format of learning Learning Experiences deliver, from a single resource (document, link, event management event, etc…) to a blended learning multi-level course format.
There are over 40 Learning Experience types available, and these can be combined into either multi-level, multi-object courses or playlists. By default most Learning Experience types behave the same way, they have different names so that the learner knows what kind of content they contain. The one exception is “Undertake an Online Course” which can be a single e-learning course or a multilevel course.
Multi-level courses
Certain types of Learning Experiences can provide more than a single resource and function as a structured course. Courses can be presented in a linear, non-linear, or branching format.
Playlists (multi-LX formats)
Playlists are a way of organizing learning experiences and allow for sequences or categories of learning to be created. A typical playlist might be “Onboarding” or “Data Protection”. Playlists can be prescriptive by the use of the linear and read-only settings or function more as a simple category.
Resource Management Library
Resources are the content that learners consume, consisting of files, URLs, text, and learning modules. Resources are presented to learners through Learning Experiences.
Once created a resource can be managed through the Resource Management Library, available to administrators with the Resource Manager role. Course Administrators can then use these resources within their courses or add their own.
Rapid Authoring
Rapid Authoring allows LXP administrators to instantly create, publish, and launch content quickly and add it to a Learning Experience. All content created and launched with Rapid Authoring can take advantage of xAPI tracking with no manual configuration required. All content is stored in the Resources section of Stream LXP.
People (Users)
Custom Profile Fields
User profiles can be expanded with additional fields to capture data. These fields can be used for Dynamic Group rules.
Control is provided over the visibility to end-users and their ability to edit.
Administrators can enable the ‘Complete Your Profile’ page which surfaces just after login where users can add values to required and optional Custom Profile Fields.
Frameworks provide a hierarchical structure of Entities that can represent parent-child structures such as organization charts, locations, job role hierarchies, departments, teams, and even global football leagues.
Job Role data also powers My Team Reporting, Manager Content Assignment, Manager Approvals, and Manager Sign-off. Job Role fields include role name, user’s manager, job title, start date, role ID, etc.
Groups
Learners can be organized into groups which allows for automatic enrolment and control over access and visibility of learning content based on a user's group membership.
Dynamic Group Management provides automated assignment of Group membership based on various criteria including completions, enrollments, profile data, language, admin roles, custom profile field values, job roles, etc.
Automation (Campaigns)
Data and Reporting
xAPI Data Manager
xAPI Data Manager is a light version of the Learning Pool Learning Record Store and is the essential LRS functionality required to efficiently run all tiers of the LXP, Automation, or Analytics.
Other functionality
Emailing
All LXP instances include the ability to deliver email. Branding automatically copies the LXP’s theme/image settings. Templates are available.
Notifications
All LXP instances include a notification center. An icon on the top bar links to the center and will alert the learner to new notifications.
Organizations
The LXP provides multi-tenancy, multiple organizations on the same LXP instance.
Each organization has its own URL (subdomain), users, and courses. Users cannot move between organizations, however, they can have multiple accounts (one for each organization).
Courses and their associated Resources can be copied between organizations on the same LXP instance.
Two Factor Authentication (2FA)
2FA can be enabled at the organization level, when enabled individual users can toggle 2FA on their accounts. When enabled a user must provide a unique, one-time code at login to confirm their standard username and password for extra security.
E-commerce
The e-commerce service in the LXP allows customers to sell courses and track sales directly through the platform. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a widely used payment processor. Discounts and voucher codes are available.
Dashboard
Elements of the dashboard can be added and ordered using a block builder.
Two types of blocks are available, a Stream or a Welcome block.
Streams can be presented as a slider or a grid.
The welcome block is populated by the learner's name, the welcome message from the LXP's settings, and the learner's mandatory training stats.
