Course Re-Completion - An Overview
This new feature for the LMS allows learners to reset and archive their completion against a course. Learners will be able to refresh their training record and keep it up to date even more effectively due to this new enhancement.
Enabling the feature
Firstly, you will need to contact our Support team who will enable the feature for you. Once enabled, you will see a new setting on the 'Course Settings' page under the 'Completion Tracking' section called 'Enable Self Completion Reset'. Set this option to 'Yes'.
Once this is set, the course can then be archived and reset by learners once they hold a full completion.
Archiving a completion
Once a learner has completed the course and holds a full completion, a new prompt will appear at the top of the course page notifying them that they can reset their completion and obtain a new completion date and certification if they so wish.
If the learner clicks the 'Reset completion' option, they will be asked to confirm that action, as it cannot be undone once triggered.
Once confirmed, the page will refresh and the completion will be archived, allowing the learner to complete it again.
Record of Learning
Each learner's record of learning will dynamically update when archiving course completions. Their previous completions will be stored so that they can still report on this.
Logging and Reporting
As an administrator, you will be able to report on both previous completions and also monitor who is resetting their completions.
We have added a new log stamp within the course logs to highlight when a learner activates the archiving process. To access these logs you need to navigate to the course in questions -> Course Administration -> Reports -> Logs. From here you should see a new stamp against any learner who has archived their completion called 'User archived their course completion'
As well as the course logs, you can also run the 'Course Completion including history' reporting source within the report builder to report on these current and previous completions.
Other Considerations
- This feature will not work for courses that are currently a part of or added to a certification or program. If a course has been added to either, the prompt will not appear for learners, regardless of whether they are assigned to the certification/program or not. If you require some learners to complete a course as part of their compliance training but require others to reset on their own at any given time, then best practice will be to create two versions of the course. One for the certification and another for stand-alone completions.
- Also, this feature can impact seminar sign-ups. Whilst the re-completion will reset the progress for the learner in question, it will remove their previous booking from the attendees list, which can make it difficult to report on. For now, we advise not using this feature with courses that contains seminar activities.
