Summary: Use the various assessment extensions to make a course with a test at the start so users can skip the content if they already know it.
A test-out assessment is a course that starts with an assessment. If learners pass the assessment first time, the course is marked as complete. If they don’t pass, they’re taken to the topics that they need to revise. This is particularly useful for refresher courses and mandatory training - why make them sit through the whole module if they already know it all?
You can build a test-out course by using the Assisted Learning, Assessment, and Learning Objectives extensions. Build your assessment on the first page of your course, set up the extensions, set your completion criteria appropriately and away you go! To make it feel seamless, we recommend sending learners straight to the assessment using start settings. You can find these in Course settings. Enable the Start controller and add your page ID to the Start list.
