Prerequisites: You need Org Admin or User Admin to set up profile fields. If you want to use frameworks as profile fields you'll need to have set up a framework.
Summary: Add extra information to a learner's profile by creating field sets in the profile fields menu.
What they are
Profile fields are extra bits of information that are added to a user’s profile. In this example, we’ve added an “Extra Responsibilities” field to identify which users are first aiders or have other responsibilities within the organisation.
How you add them
1. Go to Settings > Fields > Profile Fields
Fields are contained in field sets. This helps you organise your profile fields.
2. Click ADD NEW FIELD SET.
3. A slide out menu will appear. Fill in all the relevant sections. If you're not sure what each section is for, just hover your mouse over the question mark icon and you'll see an explanation.
4. Click YES to add your first field.
5. Fill in the relevant fields to create the different options that will be available in this field set.
In Field Type you can specify how you'd like the options to appear. If you select FRAMEWORK then the entities from the selected framework will appear as the selectable fields in this field set. You can find out more about frameworks here.
Once you're done, click ADD.
Where do profile fields appear?
As you may have guessed, profile fields appear on the learner's profile. If the field has been set to Visible to users it will appear on their public profile in the MORE INFO section.
If they've been set to be editable in the front end, they'll also appear in a learner's EDIT PROFILE menu.

If a Long Text or Short text field has been selected, a URL can be added. If that URL includes https then upon saving, will become a clickable link.
They will always be visible and editable (if you have Org Admin or User Admin) in Admin > Users > Username > Profile fields .
In addition to the processes for updating the values contained by Custom profile fields noted above, they can also be updated via CSV upload.
Profile fields can also be found as criteria in dynamic rules within groups. See the groups guide for more information.
The filters will be relevant to the type of profile field you've selected:
Managing profile fields
When viewing the Profile Fields page, you will see the Profile Field Sets that have been created on the learning platform. Each set is expandable to expose the individual Profile Fields the Set contains.
The order of Profile Fields within a Set can be adjusted which affects the order in which they're presented to users and admins as noted above. In addition, each has an Action menu that offers the ability to either Edit or Delete the Profile Field.
Note: Profile Fields being referenced by a Group Dynamic Rule cannot be deleted. They must first be "disconnected" from use in the Dynamic Rule. Do not simply delete the Group as this will not break the connection between the group, the Dynamic Rule, and the Profile Field. Instead, alter the Dynamic Rule to no longer reference the Profile Field in question. Once this is done, the Profile Field may be deleted as described above. For more information about managing Group Dynamic Rules, please see the Groups Dynamic Rule article.
