You can add hyperlinks to any component that includes body text by clicking on the the button in the text editor. You can configure your hyperlinks to behave in various different ways.
Configuring your link
When you click on the icon or you right click on an existing link and select Edit Link, a window will appear.
The Link Info tab is self-explanatory. Click on the Target tab to change how your link behaves.
In the drop down menu, you can select the following options:
- <not set> - the link opens in the default way for the learner’s browser
- <frame> - this setting is largely obsolete in modern browsers
- <popup window> - opens the link in a popup window. There are various settings to customise the window. Beware that many browsers now block popup windows.
- New Window (_blank) - opens the link in a new window or in a new tab, depending on how the learner’s browser is set up. Topmost Window (_top) - opens the link in the window or tab currently in focus.
- Same Window (_self) - opens the link in the current window, navigating the learner away from the Authoring - Library Content course. Parent Window (_parent) - opens the link in the parent window.
