To support your organisation in managing skills, there are a number of features available which aim to align existing skills with your terminology and help users accurately assess their proficiency.
Default Proficiency level descriptions
A default proficiency level description that appears when you hover over the star icon can be enabled upon request.
With this feature enabled, when a user hovers over the star icon which indicates the proficiency level, the default description for that proficiency level will display in a tooltip. This makes it easy for users to quickly understand the meaning behind each proficiency level, facilitating more informed assessments of their skills
Custom skill names and proficiency level descriptions
The customer specific skills feature allows you to rename existing skills so that they better reflect your organisation's terminology. You can also add custom proficiency level descriptions for each star level, to help users when assessing their proficiency in that specific skill.
To create a custom skill name, you need to have the Admin role. As an admin, click on your profile picture and select Customer specific skills:
Here you can click Create new to begin creating your customer specific skill. When you click Create new you will be prompted to fill in the following details:
| Choose synonym | Search for the skill you want to rename. |
| Custom name | Specify the new name for this skill. |
| Description |
Add a custom description for this skill to help users understand what that skill means to your organisation. |
| Star level descriptions |
Add a custom description for each star level to help users when assessing their proficiency in that specific skill. |
| Company logo visible? |
If this is enabled, the skill will have your organisation logo displayed alongside it like Communication and People Management do in the screenshot below: |
Skills suggested by your learners
Learners can suggest new skills. If they type in the name of a skill that does not exist, they'll be given the option to request it:
Admins can contact the Learning Pool support team to request an export of all skills requested by their users. Any skills you believe are relevant can then be raised to the support team for consideration to be added to the ontology.
