Summary: Authoring - Adaptive Content offers a means for customers to modify the content of a course by making updates (or redlining, as the process is called) a script.
The high level process
Begin by accessing the course catalog. From here a script can be requested through the catalog by selecting request scripts. This script document will then be sent to the customer by Learning Pool Support via email.
Make the desired updates to the course content script by carefully following the redlining process outlined below, and then reach out to your Customer Account Executive and Customer Success Manager for the steps to return the script and continue the process.
How to redline the content script
When you open the Content Script .docx file, you'll see two columns. The Content Script document is used for development purposes. Please do not edit, delete, or add any content in the left column. The content in the right column includes the editable text content of the course. You should not adjust anything in the left column. Please follow the following guidelines to ensure your edits are in the correct format for implementation.
Alert: Do not edit, delete, or add any content in the left column.
Editing Content (Right Column):
- Ensure “track changes” is on before you edit the script (click here to read about using track changes in Microsoft Word and here to read about using them in Google docs).
- Redline the content in the right column to reflect your desired changes exactly.
- Do not change the text color or add highlighting.
- Do not add tables or images.
Please ensure your redlines and changes have been reviewed for spelling and typographical errors before submitting redlines to our team. To ensure we stay aligned with the changes that are requested and avoid version control issues arising from our team making additional changes, the redlines are not validated or modified in any way from what is provided.
Analytics note
Activity content delivers analytics and optimal learning experiences to your organization. These areas are indicated with a gray background in the left column.
Redlining tips
Links need to be added in HTML code. Here are some examples:

PDF:
<a href="MyDocument.pdf" target="_blank">My Document</a>
Email:

Adding or Replacing Image Assets: If you’d like to replace an asset, please add a comment in the script with details on which asset to replace and include the name of the new asset. (click here to read about adding comments in Microsoft Word and here about adding comments in Google docs) Please provide the high-resolution images (.jpg or .png) when submitting the annotated script.
Videos: If you’d like to replace a video, please add a comment in the script with details on which asset to replace and include the name of the new asset. Video files must be under 30MB (.mp4).
Video Subtitles: Edits to these change the project scope as they require additional work to re-record narration.
Adding, Deleting, or Rearranging Screens: Add a comment to provide detailed information in the appropriate location in the script.
Branching Guidelines
Branching allows you to deliver specific content to certain learners in order to create a more tailored learning experience. Common branching parameters include role, job function, and location.
-
How It Works In the Course: Learners are presented with a question, and they select from the available answer options. Based on their response(s) to the question, they will see certain content in the course.
-
Adding a Branching Question: A Question Data Slide needs to be added to your desired location in the course and the following fields completed:
-
- Slide Title (e.g., Tell Us About Yourself)
- Question Text (e.g., Are you a manager?)
- Answers (e.g., Yes, No)
- Variable Name (e.g., Manager)
-
-
Configuring the Content: The desired content in the course needs to be configured to show for specific learners based on their response to the branching question. (e.g., the Manager category is configured to Show If [Manager] = Yes)
-
Keep In Mind: Any content can be branched/configured to show for certain learners: slides, activities, topics, and categories.
-
When Requesting Branching: Please provide:
-
- The information you would like to go into each of the fields on the Question Data Slide: Slide Title, Question Text, Answers, and Variable Name
- A description of the content you would like to be branched and a brief explanation of how it should be branched. (e.g., Please configure Category 3 to show for learners who select "Yes" to the Manager branching question.)
