Tooltips, as the name implies, are used to provide more information to the end users about a page or form and/or help them complete a process where some parts of the process may require more details. Tooltips can be easily created on a page using OnScreen Guidance and can be made available to all or select users. Tooltips can be used either in place of or to complement process guides.
An end user will see an icon or accent next to or under the page element for which help is required. When they hover over it or click (this can be configured on administrative/author/user levels), they will see a pop-up with more details on what that element is. The tooltip can contain things like images, URLs, lists and even links to run a process guide.
