The LMS allows for sending bulk messages to users with accounts on the platform. The following guide outlines the steps to send a bulk message to an existing audience in the LMS. To learn more on how to create an audience click here.
Selecting the Bulk user actions
To get started navigate to the Administration block as shown below Site Administration > Users > Bulk user actions.
You will then be taken to a page where there will be several filters to choose from. As we are using an audience in this example, expand the list of filters by clicking on the 'Show more...' link and look for the 'Audience ID'.
You must now ensure you enter the correct Audience ID to locate your required Audience. (Revisit the Audiences guide if you require help finding the ID).
Once the Audience ID has been applied, click on the 'Add Filter' button. You will then see a list of users associated to that audience displayed within the Available column (this example has only 1 user).
Next, select your users you which to message, moving them to the Selected column. You can move users individually or all at once using the button options shown below.
Moved users will show in the Selected column.
Next, select 'Send Message' from the drop down menu and click 'Go'.
Next, you will be presented with a text editor, this is where you will type up the message you wish to send to your selected users.
Please note, Mlang tags cannot be applied to this type of message.
Once 'Save changes' is clicked, a confirmation screen will appear:
If you are ready to proceed click 'Yes' this will send your message to your selected users. Note, if you are sending a message to a large number of users the screen may take some time to refresh. Please DO NOT continuously hit Yes as this may result in sending the message multiple times.
Considerations
When using this functionality note the message will send from the user who triggered the message. If you plan to send this from a generic account remember to check the first and last name on the account so it makes sense to your users.
