The IQ Heatmap is a great place to start within the IQ Analytics suite, offering a comprehensive, program-level overview of performance across multiple training events. Accessible directly from the IQ Analytics Dashboards page, it enables users to:
- Report on Adaptive Training Events: View all available Adaptive training events within your organization.
- Generate Comparative Reports: Create reports that analyze:
- Single Risk Topic Over Time: Evaluate the progression of a specific risk area across different periods.
- Multiple Risk Topics Within a Defined Program Phase: Assess various risk areas within a particular timeframe, such as a single year.
This functionality provides valuable insights into training effectiveness and areas requiring attention, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning.
In the example below multiple years of ‘Conflicts of Interest’ training have been selected:
How to enable Group Shared Categories
Shared Categories can be applied to group similar or identical content, such as a course repeated across years, allowing them to be indexed together in the reports. This makes the dashboard cleaner to look at and reduces the need for duplicate information on the dashboard.
For example:
You see from above that there is a comparison going on between 2 courses over the course of 2 years, you will see that in Category 1 that the title is repeated between both data points. However, with Group Shared Categories, it will group both of these titles together so that there is only 1 instance of the name:
To select courses use the search box and add more than one. Once risk areas have been selected, choose ‘Apply’:
The Heatmap will display a year-over-year view of performance, enabling you to track progress beyond individual events and providing program-level data that highlights adaptive metrics and performance trends over time.
Metrics such as learner completions, average seat time, and savings are presented, along with overall and category-level performance indices over time. This can be used to show program effectiveness.
Color codes in the heat maps visually represent performance levels:
- Green: Good performance
- Yellow: Performance needing improvement
- Red: Performance requiring immediate attention from program owners
Course names are clickable, allowing you to delve directly into the dashboard for a more granular analysis of trends.
Additionally, users can download .XLSX versions of the heat map for further analysis and application of formulas.
What is the widget showing?
The widget for the Heatmap shows the following information:
Heading | What it is showing |
|---|---|

Filters
Each dashboard allows the person viewing the dashboard to apply filters.
Language (Adaptive Authoring courses can come in a variety of different languages)
Manager (Adaptive Authoring can change the course depending on whether you are a manager or not, a choice is taken before the course is started).
You also have the ability to add in some custom filters; however, these need to be added via the Demographic file.
