The Internal Benchmarking dashboard allows the viewer to compare your organization’s internal demographic sets against one another.
Important Note
In order to actually use the Internal Benchmarking dashboard, a Demographic file needs to be uploaded in order to populate the segments. Once the Demographic file has been uploaded, the filters can begin to be used on this dashboard.
There are two ways to access the Internal Benchmarking Dashboard:
- To access the Internal Benchmarking Dashboard from within the Overall Performance Dashboard, click the switcher icon located on the top right. This will open the dashboard for the course you have selected.
- You can access the Internal Benchmarking Dashboard from the Dashboard picker page, this is the page you land on after you login. Once you have selected the dashboard, you will be asked to select the course.
You can:
- Compare the performance of multiple segments (e.g., all regions against one another)
- See a comparative analysis of multiple segments’ performance against the company average
- Apply filters to slice and dice your data (e.g., Managers by region, against one another)
Selecting the Demographic:
Once the course has been chosen, the next step will be to select the demographic that has been uploaded. You are only able to select 1 filter at a time.
From this point, you can choose to just apply the filter above, so it will show all the information based on country (the country per user is uploaded via the demographic file, so this associates the country based on the user ID).
If you just select the Country, the dashboard will look like the below:
Selecting Segment(s):
Should the viewer of the dashboard want to only see data of a specific Country, this can be done via the segmentation filter on the Benchmarking dashboard:
You are able to multi-select countries, or you are able to select all.
What is this dashboard showing?
As an example, if you wanted to benchmark 3 Countries to see how they did in the PCI DSS Awareness course, you would use the Benchmarking dashboard and would have the following:
Demographic - Country (Uploaded via the Demographic file)
Segment - Ireland, UK & USA (these are uploaded against the user ID in the demographic file)
Overall performance:
The overall performance compares how each user within each country performed within the course according to each category in the course. You will be able to see the benchmark, which is 80% and you have a total count of users, allowing you to see which country performed the best and who scored above average.

Performance by Category
Should the categories within the course contain questions, the widget below details the average questions passed by the user within each category.
This widget is interactive within the dashboard; you are able to select each bar to switch and dive into each category to further examine how each Country did per activity in said category.

Once you select your bar, as the above, it is set on “Incident Response and Reporting”, the widgets below will begin to filter and change according to the questions asked within the category. However, the next widget shows the overall performance for that category per country:

To change the category, it is done by selecting the bars in the bar chart:

Performance by Activity
Depending on the selection of the bar chart, it will dynamically update what is stored within the activity section. The above shows alternating between different categories within the course. Depending on the category selected, the activities will update to only show the questions asked within the chosen category.
The above are the questions asked within the category. Because we are benchmarking Countries against 3 specified Countries, we get a clear picture of which of the selected countries performed better at each question asked of them.
Within each question, the viewer is able to see the overall performance of each Country and is also able to see the total number of users from within that Country that answered the question.
