Prerequisites: This block may need to be enabled on your site. If it is not visible in the Add a Block list simply contact the Support Team and ask for it to be enabled.
Summary: The resources block can be added to a course page and allows you to add text, links, or files to provide the learner with information and further reading linked to the course topic.
Adding resources to the block
After adding the block and positioning it on the course page, you need to choose the organisation and the type of resource to add. Admins can only view, add, edit or delete resources for course pages for their organisation.
Select Organisation: From the dropdown list, choose the organisation that can view the resources within the block. Selecting an organisation will automatically reveal what resources have previously been added (if any). You also have the option to add more, edit the present resources, or delete them.
It is important to bear in mind what organisations have access to the course, so that you can add resources to the correct organisations.
Add a resource: From the dropdown list, choose the type of resource you want to add to the block. The options are: ‘Upload a file’ and ‘Add text’.
Upload a file: this option allows you to upload a file such as a PDF and add a title and description.
Add text: this option allows you to add some text from a HTML editor field - meaning URL links can be added.
After adding a resource type, you will automatically be taken to the resource configuration page.
Organisation: Choose the organisation that will see the resource (by default, this will display the organisation chosen from the dropdown list on the Resource block).
Name: Give a title to the resource.
Description: Add a description for the resource.
Display description on course page: If you want the description to appear alongside the resource in the block, place a tick in the box.
Select files: Add the resource file by either dragging it into the dotted area, or clicking on the .
After adding a resource type, you will automatically be taken to the resource configuration page.
Organisation: choose the organisation that will see the resource (by default, this will display the organisation chosen from the dropdown list on the Resource block).
Text: add the resource text that will appear on the block. Add a hyperlink to an external webpage by highlighting the text that you want to be the link, and clicking on the link icon in the HTML menu bar. In the popup window that appears, enter the URL of the website.
Appearance
You also have the option to change how the resources appear to the learner. You can choose whether or not the document opens in a new window and what information is displayed about the file.

For this block, configuring it allows you to determine where the block appears on the course page, how it looks and to whom it is visible.
