Summary: In the buttons format only one section is visible at a time. The user can view different sections by clicking on the corresponding button.
When you’re configuring the buttons format, you’ll have the following options:
Show the default sections name: You can decide if you want to show the default sections name. This is set to ‘No’ by default.
Section zero position: Choose where you want the first (zero) section (which has the default ‘Announcements’ forum) positioned.
Inline sections: Select whether you would like to give each section a new line using the ‘Inline sections’ dropdown.

|
Button style: Choose the desired button style (rounded or square). |
Title of the grouping: The grouping sections is used to separate section
by type or modules. Here you can add the title of each group.
Number of sections to group: Set the number of sections that each one will have. E.g. The course has 10 sections divided into two modules: Theoretical (with 5 sections) and Practical (with 5 sections). Define the title e.g. “Theoretical” and set the number of sections to 5.
Colour of the current section button: The current section is the section marked with highlight. That means that Highlight has been activated from the topic section's Edit menu. Remember that only one topic section may be highlighted in this manner at a time. This is typically used in courses where there is an expectation that all learners be working in the "current" topic section at the same time, and therefore that topic section needs a way to be identified. Define a colour in hexadecimal. Example: #fab747. If you want to use the default colour, leave empty.
Colour of the visible section button: The visible section is the currently selected topic section. Define a colour in hexadecimal. Example: #747fab. If you want to use the default colour, leave empty.
