Prerequisites: You need to be an org admin to use the dashboard builder. Click here to find out more about different roles in the learning platform. For the dashboard builder to take effect, you'll need to enable Modern UI. Click here to find out how to do so.
The dashboard builder gives you full control over what appears on a learner's dashboard and in what order.
Adding a block
Click Settings and then Dashboard Builder to open the dashboard builder:
Click Add new block to add a new block and select either Stream, Welcome block (will soon be deprecated), or Content Block.
Content type: Stream
| Select layout type dictates whether your dashboard block displays as a slider or a grid. |
Slider: Grid: |
| Choose stream option specifies what content will appear in the block. |
Mandatory: If the learner has any learning experiences that are marked as mandatory, they will appear here. Click here to read more about marking a learning experience as mandatory. Recent: The learner's most recently viewed learning experiences will be displayed here in reverse chronological order. Assigned: If the learner has been assigned any learning experiences, they will be displayed. Click here to read more about assigning learning experiences to learners. New: learning experiences that have recently been added to the learning platform recently and are marked as "public" will appear here. Public: learning experiences that are; marked as public, are of type 'Undertake and online course' and that the logged-in learner is not enroled in will appear here. Promoted: display any promoted learning experiences the learner has permission to see and are not yet enrolled in, with the newest content always appearing first. |
| Hide when empty | If enabled, the block is not visible on the dashboard if there is no content in it. E.g. if the learner doesn't have any mandatory training to do, a block set to "Mandatory" will not appear. |
| Hide block | If enabled, the block is not visible whether there's content in there on not. |
Content type: Welcome block
NOTE: This feature will soon be deprecated. Timelines to follow.
The welcome block is populated by the learner's name, the welcome message from your learning platform's settings (see below), and the learner's mandatory training stats.
|
Block 1 displays the learner’s first and last name. The background color of this panel is controlled by the Card Header Background color value set at Settings > Theme in the "Simple Theme Creator" section. |
|
|
Block 2 displays a welcome message. You can add a welcome message by going to Admin, Settings, and adding it to the Welcome Message section. Note: The welcome message does not support embedding content or CSS. This will automatically be stripped out if you try to add it. The background color of this panel is controlled by the Nav Bar Background color value set at Settings > Theme in the "Simple Theme Creator" section. |
|
|
Block 3 displays the status of the learner's most urgent learning experience, based on due date. The learning experience in question can be launched directly from this block. The priority and block colour of each status is:
Note: You may notice a discrepancy between the amount of completions displayed here and the amount displayed in "My profile" or "My reports". If a learner is assigned the same learning experience via multiple playlists, the learning experience will be counted multiple times in the learner's profile and reports, but only counted once in the welcome block. |
|
|
Block 4 highlights ‘Your Progress’ by displaying the following statuses:
The background color of Block 4 mirrors that of Block 1 and is therefore controlled by the Card Header Background color value set at Settings > Theme in the "Simple Theme Creator" section. |
Note: At the moment, only due dates and mandatory training set by an admin will be displayed in the mandatory section of the welcome block. It will ignore due dates added by the learner.
Ordering and editing your dashboard
Click the icons to edit the settings of your block, delete your block or click the arrows to move the block up and down the dashboard. The block's position on this page will dictate where it displays on the dashboard.
Previewing and publishing your dashboard
Your new dashboard won't be visible to your learners until you activate the modern UI (click here to read more.) If you want to see what your dashboard will look like prior to that, you can click the preview button:
