Q. Will search results change immediately after enabling Modern Search?
A. Once the service is enabled, the search results will reflect the new structure and scoring system. However, content ingestion may take some time depending on your organisation’s learning catalogue size (total number of learning experiences, objects and resources used in objects).
Q. How does Modern Search work and how does it rank search results based on relevance?
A. Take a look at this detailed guide about 'How Search Understands and Matches Content'.
Q. What happens if I decide to disable Modern Search after it’s been enabled?
A. Modern Search is opt-in/opt-out, so customers can disable it at any time. Disabling it will return the organisation to the previous search interface, but there will be no issues with doing so.
Q. Will the new search work for all types of content in the platform?
A. The Modern Search currently works with learning experience titles and descriptions, object titles and descriptions, and supported resource content types (if advanced search is enabled and allowed within the client’s tier). Other content types may be included in future updates.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of results that can be shown in the search?
A. There is no overall limit to the number of results. Ten will display initially with the option to view more.
Q. Can we customise the appearance or order of the search results?
A. Currently, the Modern Search interface provides a standard structure for result display. Customisation options are limited, but future updates may offer additional features to refine the search experience further.
Q. What should I do if my search results are not showing content I expect?
A. When adding new content or making changes to existing content, please note that it can take between 5-10 minutes for changes to display on the search page. We also recommend reviewing the search query and any filters applied to ensure the content will apply.
