To report on Events within Analytics, you must use the Learning Platform data model (LP Platform Analytics).
This article explains how to create an Analytics report that identifies past event sessions where attendance has not yet been recorded. This can help administrators ensure that learners receive the correct completion status for sessions they attended.
When managing multiple Events and Sessions, it can become difficult to track whether attendance has been recorded for each session.
Using Analytics with the Learning Platform data model (LP Platform Analytics), you can create a report that highlights:
- Sessions that have already taken place
- Sessions where attendance has not yet been marked
This allows administrators to quickly identify sessions that still require attendance updates.
Required Data Fields
The baseline version of this report includes the following fields:
- Event Name
- Schedule Name
- Session Name
- Session Start Date
- Session End Date
- User Full Name
- Session Attendance Status
Note: These fields can be adjusted depending on reporting requirements.
Step 1: Filter for Sessions That Have Already Taken Place
To ensure the report only displays past sessions, apply a date filter using either:
- Session Start Date, or
- Session End Date
In this example, the report is configured to show sessions that started within the last four months. This means the report will only display sessions that occurred within that time frame.
You can also configure the filter to include the current month, depending on your reporting needs.
Example logic:
- Session Start Date = within the last 4 months
This helps limit the report to recent sessions and keeps the data manageable.
Step 2: Filter for Sessions Without Attendance
After applying the date filter, the report will still show sessions where attendance has already been recorded. To identify sessions where attendance has not yet been taken, apply an additional filter using:
- Session Attendance Status
Set the filter to:
- N/A (Blank)
This identifies sessions where:
- The session has already taken place
- Users were signed up
- No attendance status has been recorded
Results
After both filters are applied, the report will display:
- Sessions that occurred within the last four months
- Sessions where attendance has not been recorded
This provides administrators with a clear list of sessions that still require attendance to be marked, helping ensure learners receive the correct completion status for their learning activities.
