What it does:
The Resources extension enables the ability to provide supplementary course materials that is accessible at any time during the course. These materials, such as documents, media files, or external links, are organised within a dedicated drawer panel that slides out from the right-hand side of the page. This ensures that learners can conveniently access additional resources without disrupting the main content flow.

Persistent Accessibility: The Resources drawer is always available to learners through an icon in the navigation bar, allowing uninterrupted access to supplementary materials.

Categorisation and Filtering: Resources can be categorised into types like documents, media, and links. This categorisation provides the ability to use filter buttons, enabling a way to filter for specific types of resources.

Customisable Display: Course authors can define titles, descriptions, and instructional texts for the resources section, tailoring the presentation to align with the course's design and instructional strategy.
How to enable the extension:
- Open your course in the Adapt.
- Click on Extensions.
- Find Resources extension and ensure it is enabled.
- Save the settings.
Configuring the Resource extension:
To configure the resources extension the extension first needs to be accessed within the course, to do so follow the steps below:
- Go to Extension.
- Find the resources extension under "Enabled Extension".
- Click on "Settings".
Configuration Options:
The Resources extension offers several configurable attributes to customise its behaviour:
- Is Enabled: Toggle to activate or deactivate the Resources extension.
- Drawer Order: Determines the position of the Resources button within the drawer(if other extensions are enabled to appear within the drawer).
- Title: Displayed in the drawer, this title represents the resources section.
- Description: Provides additional information about the resources section within the drawer.
- Display Title: The heading displayed at the top of the resources drawer.
- Body: Text displayed at the top of the resources drawer, offering context or instructions to learners.
- Instruction: Additional instructional text for learners within the resources drawer.
- Enable Filters: Enables or disables filter buttons for resource types. Defaults to
true. If all resources are of the same type, filters are automatically disabled. - Filter Buttons: Defines labels for filter buttons corresponding to resource types such as all, document, media, and link.
- Aria Labels: Sets ARIA labels for filter buttons to enhance accessibility.
- Resources Items: An array of resource items, each defined by:
- Type: Specifies the resource type (e.g., document, media, link).
- Force Download: Forces the resource to download in the case of a file.
- Title: The label displayed for the resource item.
- Filename: Allows the downloaded file to have a different name than the source file. Note that this feature depends on browser support for the download attribute.
- Description: Additional details about the resource item.
- Link: File or URL to the resource item.
- Is displayed on every page?: Toggle to control if resource show in menu only or course pages as well.
Adding resources to the Resources Extension in the extension involves a series of steps. Below is a detailed guide explaining how to add resources efficiently.

In the Resources Extension, look for the section labelled "Resource Items" found at the bottom of the resource extension.

Click "Add" to create a new resource entry.

Fill in the following details for the resource:
- Type: Choose one of the resource types:
- Document (for PDFs, Word files, etc.)
- Media (for images, audio, or video files)
- Link (for external websites).
- Custom (between 1 - 10) - for a custom section for your resource.
- Title: The name of the resource as displayed to learners.
- Filename (optional): If different from the uploaded file name, specify the name learners will see when downloading.
- Description (optional): A short summary of what the resource contains.
- Link:
- If adding a document or media file, click on .
- If adding a link, enter the full URL (e.g.,
https://www.example.com).
- Is Display on every page?: Should the resource only display within menu page or all pages within the course.
- Type: Choose one of the resource types:
Once the above information has been filled in within the resource item click on the - OK - button to add the resource item and click on save button to save the changed you have made.
Access Resources From within the course:
- In your course, click the Menu button (three horizontal lines in the top-left).
- Select Resources from the drawer menu.
- Click Resource from the list to open the resource panel.
