They say that moving can be one of the most stressful times in your life. Thankfully, moving to the LXP won't be! The LXP does everything that Learn I.O. does and more, but they aren't necessarily called the same thing or located in the same place. This quick guide will help you get acquainted with the LXP way of doing things.
| Learn I.O. feature | LXP equivalent |
| Roles and permissions management | Different admin roles in the LXP have different permissions and abilities. You can read about what they are and how to assign them by clicking here. |
| Reporting |
There are reports available in each learning experience, you can click here to read about them. And you can use the My Team page to view reports about the learners that you manage. Click here to read more. The mandatory report displays every instance of a mandatory LX being assigned to a learner throughout the LXP. Click here to read more. |
| Emails from the platform |
The LXP sends some automatic emails and can also send manual emails. Click here to read more. You can send emails from each individual LX too. Click here to read more. |
| Vimeo and Youtube | Both Vimeo and Youtube videos can be added as resources and used in your learning experiences. Click here to read more about the various resources you can add. |
| Multi-language | The LXP supports multiple languages and custom translation strings. You can read more by clicking here. |
| Multi-org capabilities | "Child" LXPs can be created and content can be copied between a parent org and a child org. You'll need to talk to your Learning Pool contact to get this set up. |
| User profiles | Learners have profiles that they can add pictures to. You can also add custom profile fields (click here to read more) and you can prompt the learners to fill these fields in themselves (click here to read more.) |
| Group management |
Groups can be used to make different content visible to different learners. Click here to read more. The membership of a group can be automatically updated based on criteria set up in dynamic rules - relieving some of the admin burden. Click here to read more. |
| Frameworks and hierarchies | The LXP can do both! You can use them to assign positions (each learner can have two) as well as various other attributes. Click here to read more. |
| Custom profile fields | Click here to read about the LXP's custom profile fields. |
| User upload | Users can be uploaded to the LXP in a csv. Click here to read more. |
| Multiple course types |
We call them "learning experiences" rather than courses, and there are many types of them. Click here to read more.
There is also an "undertake an online course" learning experience. That can be configured in a few different ways too. Click here to read more. |
| Upload SCORM content | The LXP supports SCORM as well as the superior xAPI tracking standard. SCORM courses can often have xAPI enabled, allowing the learning platform to track more detailed and granular information. Click here to read more about the various resources the LXP supports. |
| Upload media | Click here to read more about the various resources the LXP supports. |
| Ability to link url | Click here to read more about the various resources the LXP supports. |
| Course search | The LXP has a search bar at the top of the dashboard. For certain tiers of the LXP, this includes a deep search that presents results from within the content itself. Click here to read more. |
| Certification / Expiry and recurrence of completions | The LXP lets you expire completions and keep track of previous attempts, providing recurrence. Click here to read more. |
| Record of prior learning / transcript / record | The LXP doesn't call it a "record of prior learning", but every LX that a learner completes can be found in their profile. |
| Assignments | You can assign learning experiences to learners. Click here to find out more. |
| capabilities | The LXP can automate a couple of tasks on its own, such as scheduled emails from LXs (click here to read more). |
| Self-enrolment | Learning experiences can be set to "Allow self-enrolment" click here to read more. |
| Self-registration and auto-enrolment |
In the LXP we call self-registration "Public registration". You can click here to read more about it. Using a combination of custom profile fields, dynamic rules, and onboarding, you can auto-enrol these people on relevant learning experiences. Click here to read more about custom profile fields. |
| Exclusion Lists | You can use dynamic rules to exclude learners from groups based on various criteria. E.g. certain job roles. Click here to read more about dynamic rules. |
We also recommend having a look at the "Getting Started with LXP" course on the Learning Pool Academy. Click here to open it now.
